This property is earmarked for a park

Neighbors of the Vennehjem development are lobbying the City of Decorah to add some green space to their subdivision.

As part of the development plan, contractor Stan Finholt was required to deed some property to the city for park space.  Park-Rec Director Rick Edwards says "we're ready to do something"—but the property has not yet been transferred to the city.

Neighborhood resident Eric Lensing says some green space would be appreciated, since the neighborhood has many families with kids.  Lensing says he's heard that some neighbors have started passing around a petition calling for the city to create the park.

Decorah Mayor Don Arendt says the city wants to help out—but the land transfer is the necessary first step.  Arendt has asked the city's Properties Committee to meet soon to discuss the issue.
