The Temporary County Redistricting Commission won't make an immediate recommendation on which new city and county district map it likes, but the group does like the three options it's been presented with.
Commission members have a complicated job--they have to set ward boundaries in the City of Decorah and then use those city districts as part of an overall county supervisor district map. On top of that the group must work to establish polling places.
Commission members want to meet again with County Auditor Ben Steines to discuss several questions, especially regarding polling places. They would then select one map that they prefer and schedule a public hearing to get comments on it.
Commission member Jon Lubke says the three maps presented Thursday to the group are "a starting point" for the process.
