Decorah girl is recognized as top area March of Dimes fundraiser

A Decorah girl is being recognized for her work on behalf of the March of Dimes.

12-year-old Courtney Smith has been named the top fundraiser in this area for the Northeast Iowa Division of the March of Dimes.  Courtney has raised over $1,000 in donations for two years in a row and has raised $3,345 in the past three years.

Courtney tells decorahnews.com she does most of her fundraising by going door to door, telling the people she meets about the March of Dimes and filling out the necessary forms if the people agree to make a donation.

Courtney is the daughter of Bill and Kris Smith of Decorah.
