Three Luther College graduates have received Fulbright awards for 2011-2012.  The Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board has announced that it has selected Sean Anderson, Tyler Dryg and James Feinstein for the scholarships.  The Fulbright foreign scholarship award provides funds for a year's educational experience abroad, including travel, health insurance and a living stipend.

Anderson, from New Ulm, Minn., is a political science and Spanish major. He will serve as an English teaching assistant in Columbia.

Dryg, from Bettendorf, Iowa, is a History major. He has received a research grant for a research project on late medieval history in Germany.

Feinstein, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is a political science and anthropology major. He will serve as an English teaching assistant in Thailand.

Sponsored by the State Department, the Fulbright is the largest U.S. international exchange program, offering opportunities for students, scholars and professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.

The program, introduced to Congress by Senator J. William Fulbright, was established in 1946 in order to foster leadership, learning and empathy between cultures. Since its inception, approximately 300,000 Fulbrighters have participated in the program.
