Metronet gets a new member

The MetroNet fiber optic system in Decorah is getting a new partner.  Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission has agreed to join the cooperative so it can hook up to the fiber optic network at its new Decorah office on Washington Street.

The addition of UERPC means the MetroNet will now have 18 locations on its network.  The high speed fiber optic network at this point is limited to governmental organizations in Decorah, but organizers say at some future date the group will listen to proposals from private Internet providers to hook up to the system.
