The first public sale of East Side School materials will be held this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The materials have been rescued and reclaimed from the demolition of the East Side School. They include everything from the exterior twice fired "engineered" whole bricks by the palette to free fill dirt by the truck load.
The sale will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon Wednesday; 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. until noon Friday at the brick site on Pole Line Road 3/10th mile west of Highway 52.
Materials available include:
Hard "engineered" (twice fired) whole brick. Brown color, 2 ¼ in. H x 8 3/8 in.L x 4 1/8 in.W. $1.00 each brick. 80 cents each for public reuse project and for quantities more than 100 bricks. Excellent for exterior use.
Soft, Decorah kilned, whole brick. Can be used for restoration or new construction projects, interior, or exterior. 50 cents each. 40 cents each for quantities more than 100, or public reuse project.
Native gray blue Platteville Limestone. $2-$5 per stone. Good for lawn and garden landscaping.
Kasota, MN quarried limestone foundation blocks $25-$50 per stone, varying sizes (approximately 10" x 12" x 36") Smaller pieces priced accordingly.
Terra Cotta clay building tiles, doubles and singles. Interior or exterior building projects. 20 cents each.
Partial brick for gabion basket retaining walls, interior or exterior mortared walls, garden borders. See Pepperfield Farm garden borders. $25 a pick up load. Large numbers of good half brick are available.
Brick hammers (slightly used) for mortar cleaning are available for $15.
Maple Flooring 2¾" wide x ¾" thick varying lengths from 2 to 23 feet. Needs tongue and groove cleaning before installation. See Pepperfield Farm Koren-Bussness-Viste Cabin floor. For sale or use in community building projects, not for private use as of May 2011.
Fill dirt with a few brick remnants. Free for a small donation to OHFA.
Wood: Piles of kindling, pieces of wood. Any amount. Free for a small donation to OHFA.
Dimensional lumber. Commissioned furniture made from East Side wood. We will have some items available for sale in future, and welcome inquiries. Lumber for sale or use for local community projects, not for private use as of May 2011.
Small particle crushed brick material for landscaping cover, or walking path/hiking trails. Remnants have not been crushed as of May 2011.
