Decorah native being honored for his volunteer work in the Twin Cities

30-year-old Jared Broghamer--a Decorah native--is being honored by       Chanhassen Dinner Theatres as a "Community Superstar"

Broghamer works at Mortenson Construction, where a co-worker told him about a volunteer opportunity with an organization called "Rebuilding Together Twin Cities" that has been preserving and revitalizing homes and communities in the Twin Cities area since 1997.

The  program brings volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low income homeowners.  It pairs volunteers of every experience level with engineering and construction specialists who solve construction challenges in a home. The experts teach the volunteers and homeowners how to make improvements, and projects are completed together.

Funds for the program come from individuals, corporations, labor organizations, foundations, as well as civic and faith-based organizations.

Jared has volunteered his time with the organization since 2007, dedicating many hundreds of hours to these efforts.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres says Broghamer was nominated by his co-workers, who submitted an entry to the Minneapolis Star Tribune earlier this year.  Chanhassen then made the selection of the 12 people it would honor.
