National CPR/AED Awareness Week runs from June 1st through June 7th. The local chapter of the American Red Cross is marking the week by holding several events to teach people how to do CPR and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator.
Says Tri-County Red Cross Unit Manager Paula Womeldorf, "By learning simple rescue skills, you can go from being a helpless bystander to a person with the ability to take control during an emergency."
Starting at noon this Friday and next Monday, there will be free hands only CPR presentations at the Decorah Red Cross office in Suite E at 1111 Paine Street. On Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. adult/child/infant CPR/AED training will be held, with registration costing $40.00. From 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. next Tuesday, June 7th, adult CPR/AED training will be held, with registration costing $35.00.
Pre-registration is required for all events. Please contact Paula Womeldorf at 563-382-4309, or womeldorfp@usa.redcross.org. If you cannot attend, but would like to find out how you can save a life, contact Paula for more information on the variety of health and safety courses offered throughout the year.
