A decorahnews.com reader e-mails: "Where do the young eaglets go when they leave the nest?  What are their chances for survival?"  

Mr. Bald Eagle says: Right now researchers don't know exactly where the young eaglets go when they leave the nest for good.  They hope to change that by catching one of the three eaglets this summer—and putting a solar transmitter with GPS software on the bald eagle.  That will enable them to tell "Where in the World is the eaglet?"  

By the way, the first year of life is roughest on bald eagles, with a 50 to 60 percent survival rate.  Once a bald eagle survives the first year, there's a very good chance they will live to be 30 to 40 years old.
