Decorah City Manager Jerry Freund told members of the Decorah Lions Club on Tuesday evening that the city's levee recertification project is going well. Freund told the group that sewer and culvert inspections have been completed. In addition, a number of trees that are closer than 15 feet away from the levees have been removed.
Freund also told the group progress is being made on the completion of the Trout Run Trail. The bridge over U.S. Highway 9 is currently being designed. Fundraising efforts for the trail are continuing.
Construction of the Water Street Park has begun and the city's comprehensive plan is currently under review.
The City Manager, who will be retiring in September, made note of Decorah Lions Club members who have served on various city boards and commissions. He ended his speech to the group by saying, "Decorah has been a great place to live and raise a family."
