Construction begins on Water Street Park

Work has begun on the new Water Street Park in downtown Decorah.  The new park is located to the west of the Oneota Food Coop along Water Street on land owned by the City of Decorah

The park is a project sponsored by the Downtown Decorah Betterment Association, which has been raising funds for the project.  In addition to the donations raised by DDBA, the project has been awarded a $25,000 Iowa Great Places Grant, a $6,872 Winneshiek County Community Foundation grant and a $5,000 grant through Decorah's Self Supporting Municipal Improvement District.

 The park will include a gazebo, where concerts and other activities will be held; a tiered stone retaining wall; six or seven tables with chairs; benches and a sculpture.
