Bids opened on new Bluffton Bridge

A new Bluffton Bridge will be built by the end of this year.
The Iowa Department of Transportation has opened bids on the bridge project. Four bids were submitted, with the apparent low bid coming from Brennan Construction of Lansing, Iowa. Brennan's bid of $1,309,000 for the project was almost $300,000 lower than the engineer's estimate for the project.
Winneshiek County supervisors are expected to formally issue the construction contract next Monday. That contract calls for completion of the new bridge by December 31st of this year
