decorahnews.com recently reported that the Decorah eaglecam passed the 100 million visit mark, becoming the most popular Internet stream ever.
But now another website, www.techcrunch.com, is reporting that the traffic statistics of the eaglecam are even more amazing.
Techcruch says the majority of website traffic has arrived since the pair's eggs began hatching on April 2nd. Techcrunch says the eaglecam had attracted 25.6 million views just before the eggs began hatching. By the end of April, that number has passed 95 million. Thus, in 29 days, the stream has tallied over 70 million views, which breaks down to roughly 2.4 million views-per-day.
The company that hosts the eaglecam, Ustream, told TechCrunch that the Decorah Eagles stream has become the most-watched live stream in the company's five-year history, easily passing the 34 million views garnered by Ustream's Canal 5 news page, which covered the Chilean miner saga in September of last year.
According to Ustream, the average time spent watching the Decorah Eagles in April, per-unique-viewer, was 6 hours and 10 minutes.
