The Decorah Public Library has announced that this year's children's summer reading program, "One World, Many Stories," will be starting Monday, June 13th.
Children 3 to 10 years old can participate in the five week long program. "Toddle Time" and "Story Time" will meet weekly, with a new time for the Wednesday "Story Time," which will be offered Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m., starting June 15th.
Weekly programs have been scheduled as well. David Stokes will bring his program, "World Wildlife: Big and Small; Dead and Alive," with live animals, puppets, songs and things to touch. Bob Kann will entertain with his "We All Tell Stories: Yippeeeee!" with stories, magic and juggling. Magician, entertainer and storyteller Mike Prestby will bring stories to life with "Magic From Around the World!" Iowa Public Television's (IPTV) Dan Wardell will come again this summer during his "Reading Road Trip Across Iowa" to entertain kids with his special stories and healthy tips. The annual talent show starring kids will give area youth an opportunity to share their talents.
Children who read 15 hours will be rewarded with a free library T-shirt courtesy of the Friends of the Decorah Public Library. Area businesses are donating coupons for free items as incentives for kids to complete their reading logs. Reading calendars will be available at the library starting Tuesday, May 31st.
