Work will begin soon on Decorah's new downtown park.

The Decorah City Council on Monday night approved a $36,027 contract with Wicks Construction and a $16,585 contract with Troy Dixon landscaping for work to be done at the park.

Some $130,000 has been pledged for the cost of the park so far, with $67,000 already collected.  The project has also received a $25,000 grant.

City Engineer Lindsay Erdman says a conference with the contractors will be held on Tuesday as a kickoff to the project.
