A shooting Tuesday evening in Hesper is being ruled a suicide.

A Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputy was called to a home shortly after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday. He heard a gun shot noise as he approached, so the deputy called in the Winneshiek County Task Force of other deputies and city police officers.  When Task Force members approached the house, they found someone in the yard with a gun shot to the head.  The person was taken by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center, where he died.

The name of the person will not be released to the public.
