Charges filed in one car accident

Decorah Police have filed charges against a 20-year-old Decorah man accused of leaving the scene of an accident.

Police say Lucas Haller was driving a car at a high rate of speed that went out of control on Second Street in Decorah, striking a tree.  A witness say Haller and a passenger allegedly leave the scene of the accident.

Haller later reported the accident, saying he was distracted by the passenger.  Police cited Haller for failure to maintain control of the vehicle.  The car was totaled in the accident.
