Sheriff's Department is warning about a new phone scam

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says several Winneshiek County residents have been the targets of a new mail scam or e-mail scam.

The contact purports to be from "The Anti-Terrorist and Monetary Crimes Division of the FBI."  Of course, it eventually asks its targets to give up their personal information, including bank account numbers, business account numbers and more.  

The Sheriff's Department says, "It is up to you to protect yourself from becming a victim of this type of crime.  If you have any questions or receive something that appears to be suspicious, please contact (us) at (563) 382-4268."
