Five appointed to Temporary County Redistricting Commission

A five person commission will work on the task of redrawing county supervisor districts boundaries to conform with the results of the 2010 U.S. Census.

The Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors on Monday appointed Winneshiek County IT Manager Jon Lubke, Decorah City Clerk Wanda Hemesath and private individuals Earl Winter, Don Wurtzel and Barb Ettleson will work on the project.

County Auditor Ben Steines says he has already drawn up three or four possible maps that would work.  The Redistricting Commission can pick one of those maps or come up with a map of its own, but it must have its work finished by October 15th.
