Nine students at Decorah's Carrie Lee elementary school have earned Honor Roll status in a math contest for elementary school students--and another eight have received honorable mentions.

Nearly 6,300 students nationwide took the Noetic Learning Math Contest for Elementary School Students.  Decorah fourth grader Ben Johnson was the team's high scorer again this year for the second year in a row.  His 90 percent score placed him as one of the top 12 scorers for his grade level.

Making a second appearance on the Honor Roll were Sophie Weis, Andrew Magner, and Cameron DeLong.  Appearing on the list for the first time were Evangeline Holyoake, Austin Bulman, Natalie Tapscott, Owen Burgdorf-Hibbs, and Drake Shelton.

Honorable Mention status was earned by Hunter Cherrier, Mara Frieden, Rachel Hudson, Abby Pedlar, Josie Kleckner, Kaden Leliefeld, Megan Robinson, and Isaac Roberts.

Participation in the contest was facilitated by Rhonda Thompson, Extended Learning Program teacher.  All of the students participate in her math enrichment classes.
