For the City of Decorah, it's on to phase two of a project to get its levees recertified.
The Decorah City Council on Monday night accepted the report on phase one of the project. It also gave the go-ahead to spend money on phase two of the project. That cost will be lower than first estimated, thanks to a savings of over $40,000 by hiring a different consulting firm to do some of the work.
The city is conducting the levee certification program because FEMA ruled that one of the two city levees did not meet standards.
