NICC Calmar has announced that its adult literacy program has received three community foundation grants totaling $7,500 from Allamakee, Chickasaw and Fayette counties. The grant money is earmarked to support students who need financial help in order to get their General Educational Development (GED) diploma or enroll in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes.
The NICC Foundation will administer the grants, which will cover registration, testing fees and buy books for county residents with no other means of support who could not otherwise afford to attend classes.
