Decorah's streets were safer in 2010

Fewer traffic accidents were reported in the City of Decorah in 2010 than in 2009 and definitely fewer than in 2008.

The Decorah Police Department says 334 accidents were reported last year, with 217 having property damage.  That was a decrease of just three accidents from 2009, but a decrease of 22 accidents with property damage.  Additionally, 383 accidents were reported in 2008—270 with property damage.

304 traffic related citations were issued in 2010—a drop of 100 citations.  However, drunk driving arrests went from 64 in 2009 to 77 in 2010.
