Art exhibit by Luther graduate opens Thursday

Paintings by 1980 Luther College graduate Tom Maakestad will be on display starting Thursday in the Kristen Wigley-Fleming Gallery in the Luther College Center for the Arts.

Maakestad holds the bachelor of arts degree in art and English from Luther.  Following graduation, he worked as a book designer for Koechel Peterson Design Associates in Minneapolis and later for Reed Elsevier as promotions and creative director in the company's Hong Kong office.

Maakestad has had his work displayed in numerous exhibitions and art galleries.  Maakestad's large landscapes have been featured in 50 group and solo exhibitions in the U.S. and overseas, including ten shows at the Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis over the past 16 years.
