New member appointed to the Luther College Board of Regents

Luther College President Richard Torgerson has announced the appointment of Steven Barnes of Niwot, Colorado to the Luther Board of Regents.  Barnes will assume his duties as a Luther Regent at the board's May meeting.

Barnes retired in 2008 as senior vice president and dealer relations manager with Capital Group/American Funds.  After a 40-year career in investment securities, real estate investment, marketing management and financial services, he continues his professional career as an equity and real estate investor and shareholder in privately held Capital Group Companies.

Barnes holds the bachelor of arts degree cum laude from Luther College and pursued graduate study and served as a graduate-assistant instructor at the University of Iowa School of Business.
