The North Winneshiek School Board has approved the district's Fiscal Year 2012 budget.
The budget calls for a mill rate of $14.77 per $1,000 of assessed valuation--the same as the current levy.
Due to declining enrollment in the North Winneshiek School District, the district will qualify for the 101 percent budget guarantee for next year. That will give the district a one percent increase over this year's state funding level. The guarantee is only good for 1 year.
The cash reserve levy was set at $247,000 and the management levy was set at $100,000. The management levy provides revenue to pay for the district's property/ casualty insurance and the early retirement benefits. The total levy will generate $1,544,421 in property taxes for the school district.
North Winn superintendent Tim Dugger says the district's spending authority remains strong. The district's general fund spending authority is $601,198.
