Winneshiek Medical Center will honor their volunteers during National Volunteer Week. The hospital had 165 volunteers last year who donated over 9,300 hours of service.
Winneshiek Medical Center community programs coordinator Beth Holthaus says, "Our dedicated volunteers come to Winneshiek Medical Center, not because they have to, but because they choose to. We are grateful for the commitment they give us. Our volunteers are dependable and fill many important roles, and they truly deserve to be honored during this special recognition week."
Among their many duties, volunteers at Winneshiek Medical Center greet patients at the information desk, staff the Auxiliary-run gift shop, serve at special events, visit hospice patients, and tend to the medical center garden. Volunteer responsibilities are designed to fit individual talents and abilities and commitments can range from daily to once a year.
