Five Luther students receive $1,000 scholarships

Five Luther College students have each received a $1,000 Steven Mark Anderson Scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year.

The Steven Mark Anderson Scholarship benefits Luther students involved in Student Support Services, a federally-funded student success program sponsored by Luther for more than 40 years. The program provides services ranging from tutoring and advising to leadership development and graduate school preparation for 160 students annually.

The recipients are Sydney Bean of Marion, a political science and classics major; Aaron Hoffland of Fennimore, Wisconsin, a computer science and Scandinavian studies major; Hannah Janaky of Hudson, Wisconsin, a psychology major with a minor in social welfare; Michelle McCoy of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, a psychology major with minors in social welfare and management; and Astri Snodgrass of St. Charles, Illinois, a Spanish and art major.
