City Administrator Jerry Freund to retire

Decorah City Administrator Jerry Freund has announced plans to retire as of September 9th.

Decorah Mayor Don Arendt on Monday night read a letter from Freund announcing the decision.  Freund's letter thanked the city council, the mayor and city employees.  "The dedication consistently demonstrated by the vast majority of employees is extraordinary and certainly contributes to much of the quality of life we enjoy here," his letter said.

He also told the city council "I am willing to serve you in any way you deem useful during a transition period or beyond with any current or future projects."

A number of the current city council members personally thanked Freund for the help he has given them while they served on the city council.
