Student volunteers from the Luther College Student Congregation will help Decorah residents with spring chores on Saturday, April 9 when Luther holds its annual Spring Fling community service day.
Luther students will help Decorah community residents with yard work, planting, light housework, window removal and cleaning, and other spring chores.
A group of students will be assigned to go to each home for an hour and a half, either in the morning or afternoon on April 9.
The day's volunteer work schedule will give priority to Decorah residents who are elderly or handicapped, but any resident who is in need of Spring Fling help may participate in the project. There is no charge for the Spring Fling services, but donations will be accepted.
Donations to Spring Fling will be designated to the Mashiah Foundation in Jos, Nigeria which helps families affected by HIV/AIDS, and the Northeast Iowa Food Pantry at First Lutheran Church.
Decorah residents may sign up by contacting Luther College Ministries, telephone (563) 387-1271 or e-mail ministry@luther.edu before Monday, April 4. Please provide a brief explanation of the household or yard tasks to be completed in a 1.5 hour time-frame.
