The community is invited to attend the Decorah Chorale's May Day Concert "Norman Luboff Remembered" on Sunday, May 1st, 7:30 PM at St. Benedict's Church in Decorah. Special guests of the Chorale will be vocalist, Bonnie Koloc; The Northern Lights Chorus, Mark Kvale (percussion) and Michael Eastwood (bass).
Music highlights of this year's annual event will include the Chorale's special tribute to composer/arranger Norman Luboff and the Norman Luboff Choir; "All My Trials Lord", "Colorado Trail, and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". The women of the Chorale will sing "May It Be" (Lord of the Rings) and "Omnia Sol" by Z. Randall Stroope, which testifies to the human need to anchor love and commitment in our hearts through life's constant passage of events and people in our lives. Also on the program, Chorale member, Jackson Felde, will conduct his original composition "Salvation", a beautifully moving work telling the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Appearing again with the Chorale by popular demand, vocalist Bonnie Koloc will sing her own composition "If My Love Were A River". This multi-talented Decorah resident, and winner of numerous music awards, continues to delight and inspire audiences everywhere she appears.
Also by very special invitation, The Northern Lights Chorus, under the direction of Jane Kolarich, will sing "Speak to the Child of Love", "Liebst du um Schonheit", and "Rise Up, My Love".
Coffee and refreshments will be served following the concert.
Director of The Decorah Chorale is John Bay. Associate conductor is Ann Kvale. Clara Byom is principal accompanist.
