A statue of Iowa native Norman Borlaug will be placed in the U.S. Capitol.

The Iowa Legislature voted Tuesday to send a statue of Borlaug to the U.S. Capitol's Statuary Hall, replacing a statue of Civil War-era Sen. James Harlan.

Borlaug was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1970 for his efforts to end world hunger. The Howard County native also founded the World Food Prize.  World Food prize officials say a committee will be appointed to raise funds for the statue.
