Five Decorah HS graduates perform at national conference

If you want another indication of the quality of the choral music program in the Decorah Community School District, here's a fact for you:  The Luther College Norsemen under the direction of Dr. Timothy Peter recently performed at the American Choral Directors Association national conference in Chicago.  Over 5,000 choral directors and music educators attended the event. 

The Norsemen were chosen for the performance because of their status as one of the top male collegiate choruses.  Five of their members are Decorah High School graduates who have been mentored in the Decorah Public Schools by choral directors Dean Beckman at DMS and Jason Rausch at DHS--Sam Zook, Erik Sand, Sam Wettach, Gavin Markee and Martin Pena-Rodriguez.
