The family of former Decorah resident Adam Bohr and the McClure Engineering Company of North Liberty, Iowa are announcing that scholarship applications are now available for Decorah High School Seniors who plan to attend an Iowa college in the field of engineering.

Adam Bohr graduated from Decorah High school in 1993.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University in 1999 and began employment with McClure Engineering Company in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He purchased ownership in the company in 2001 and became the Regional Manager of the Eastern Iowa office, now located in North Liberty, Iowa.  Adam served on the Iowa City Homebuilders Board of Directors, the Iowa City Area Chamber Board of Directors and North Liberty Steering Committee.   Adam died December 1st, 2010 on his 36th birthday after a year long battle with cancer.

A statement by McClure Engineering said, "Adam was one of a kind.  Not only was he our Regional Manager and co-worker, he was our friend.  Those of us at McClure Engineering Company all knew Adam on a personal level, and the one common theme that all of us can agree on is that Adam was a hard worker and dedicated to his career.  His fun loving, happy-go-lucky, carefree ways made it easy to like him instantly.   Adam's smile could be recognized throughout an entire crowd.  He was welcoming and generous to everyone, never afraid to reach out to the new person in the room.  Though Adam has left us far too soon, we know that his spirit will live on in every life that he touched."

One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year to a DHS senior.  Beginning in 2012, a second $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a North Liberty senior as well.  The scholarship will be awarded based on scholastic standing, community involvement, extra curricular activities, and a short essay on why the individual wants to study engineering.   All applications must be post marked by May 1st, 2011 to qualify for the award.  The scholarship applications are available at the Decorah High School Guidance Office and on the school website.
