Three folk artists contribute work for Vesterheim's art auction

Bowlturner Paul Loftness of Gibbon, Minnesota; woodcarver Becky Lusk of CoonValley, Wisconsin; and rosemaler Jean Simonson Giese of De Soto, Wisconsin,have worked together to create a special artwork for Vesterheim Museum'supcoming fundraising auction.

Thethree have created an ale bowl about 16 inches in diameter, 23.5 inches inlength from spout end to handle edge, and 5 inches tall.  The outside is Norwegian red with a blue rim.  The inside is Norwegian red with a Telemarkrosemaling design in blue, green, gold, black, and cream.  The handle's acanthus carving is paintedNorwegian red.  Loftness turned the bowl,Lusk carved the acanthus design on the handle, and Giese painted the rosemaling.

Raffletickets are $2.50 each and may be purchased at the museum or by sending yourname and ticket amount to Vesterheim, 523 W. Water St., Decorah, IA 52101.The drawing will be held during Nordic Fest at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30th,in the museum's Main Building. You need not bepresent to win. All proceeds benefit Vesterheim.
