Fundraising by students at Decorah High School has resulted in almost $1,300 being donated to Winneshiek Celebration of Life to help pay for free mammograms for area women.

Students have held a variety of fundraising events in the last year and a half, including the sale of special t-shirts and half-time free throw contests.

The Celebration of Life is now taking applications from area women for the free mammogram screenings, with an application deadline of March 25th.  All free screenings are awarded based on financial need. The simple, seven-question applications are available at Margaret's Clothing store, Winneshiek Medical Center, Gundersen-Lutheran or on-line at www.winneshiekcol.com.

Women age 40 and older should apply for the benefit. For instance, if you are uninsured you may qualify, or if you're in a household of 4 with an income of $66,000 or less annually, or a single woman with an income of $32,490 or less, or with an insurance deductible of $5,000 or more, you may qualify.

Applications may be dropped of at Margaret's Clothing Store or mail it to:  Winneshiek County Celebration of Life, 210 W. Water St., Decorah, IA 52101 or call for more information: 563-382-8208.
