Decorah City Council will redraft ordinance banning guns on city property

It will take at least another two weeks before the City of Decorah has an ordinance banning carrying guns and other weapons in city buildings and on city property.

City council members were ready to pass a ordinance to that effect on Monday night, when the issue of the Fox & Coon Club was brought up.  The shooting club leases city-owned property for its target shooting.  City officials decided to specifically exempt the Fox & Coon Club from the ordinance, but have tabled action until the next city council meeting.
