Decorah Education Association makes first Master Contract proposal to Decorah School Board

The Decorah Education Association (DEA) presented its first contract proposal for the 2011-12 Master Contract to the Decorah Community School Board in a special session on Tuesday afternoon.

The proposal includes:
•    Base salary increase of $140, to  a new base of $27,135
•    Salary increase of 2.37 percent

That represents a total package increase of 3.25 percent. The same insurance package would remain. The only proposed additions include an assistant tennis coach and a faculty sponsor for the Art/Science Club at the high school.

The groups will meet again next Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. for the first response from the Board, with some additional discussion to take place at that meeting.
