Students from the TRiO program and from the Rockefeller Alternative High School Program at NICC Calmar recently visited the State Capitol in separate trips.

30 NICC Calmar campus TRiO-Upward Bound students participated in their trip.  Around 200 Rockfeller Alternative High School students also visited Des Moinesp.

The TRIO students met with their state representatives and senators, and were on hand at the Capitol to hear Iowa State Rep. Deborah Berry read a proclamation on behalf of TRiO programs and in the students' honor.

One group met with State Senator Mary Jo Wilhelm of Cresco and talked about the impact the program has had in their lives.

The alternative high school students visited the Capitol Rotunda, met Governor Terry Branstad and their legislators, and toured the Capitol.
