New Decorah business offers everyone a chance to be a blogger

A new Decorah business is hoping to shake up the blogging industry.

www.goodblogs.com, based in Decorah, is a crowd-sourced blogging platform where anyone can submit an original post on any topic and readers can vote for their favorites. The top posts each day on GoodBlogs.com are rewarded with home page billing and $20 per post.

The brainchild of Internet entrepreneur Jason Trout, GoodBlogs is an entirely new, patent pending, business method that opens up the world of paid blogging to everyone. "While you typically see these kinds of businesses come out of Silicon Valley, Seattle, or New York, I hope to show you can launch and grow a successful technology company right here in Iowa," says Trout.

Says Trout, "You might be an expert fly fisherman looking to share your knowledge, you might be the biggest Hawkeye fan in the world and want to express your fanaticism, or you might love video games as much as I do and want to share your obsession with others."

Anyone is welcome to submit a post on GoodBlogs.com. "It's a simple process—just write something and get your message out there," Trout emphasizes. GoodBlogs.com has seven interest areas--Business & Entrepreneurship; Home & Family; Environment & Social Justice; Health & Wellness; Sports & Recreation; Travel, Life, & Leisure; and Science & Technology.

"I would love to have GoodBlogs grow to a point where a few hundred people can make a living and thousands more can use it to supplement their income. I'm really excited about this. I want this to be fun for people to write and fun for people to read," says Trout.
