Winneshiek County may help Calmar township buy a fire truck

Winneshiek County supervisors have scheduled a public hearing for 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 7th on a request by Calmar Township officials to loan the township $100,000 to purchase a new fire truck. Townships in Iowa are not allowed to borrow money, so the request is being made to have the county borrow the money and the township to sign an agreement to repay the note.

County officials say similar arrangements have been made in the past for Ridgeway, Frankville and the City of Calmar.
