NICC Calmar students place well at ag competition

Northeast Iowa Community College agriculture students have qualified to compete at the National Postsecondary Agriculture Student Conference next month, based on their performances at the state competition.

"Every student from NICC who attended the conference has qualified for the national competition, and I believe we are the only school in the state that can make that claim," said NICC agriculture instructor Tad Mueller.

NICC Agriculture Business students took second place in the Beef Specialist Competition. Chris Mack also won first place in the Beef Specialist Competition as an individual.

NICC Agriculture Business students who scored a third place finish in the College Bowl.

NICC Dairy Specialist and Agriculture Business students competing in the Dairy Specialist Competition won first, second and third place trophies at the conference. Among the students recognized were Taylor Rauk of Decorah and Dan Lyford of Calmar, who both had second place individual finishes.
