The NE Iowa Peace and Justice Center has now opened its offices at 119 Winnebago Street in Decorah.  Staff members and volunteers are operating the office from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Organizer Rev. Michael Blevins says the offices are also open to other appropriate non-profit organizations as space for meetings by appointment.  He says his group is excited about the new offices because the space is downtown and is visible and accessible.

The NE Iowa Peace and Justice Center was started with a $4,700 grant from the NE Iowa District of the United Methodist Church's Iowa Annual Conference.  Blevins says another $3,000 in donations from the public have come in so far.

The organization is looking for volunteers to help staff the office, as well as donors interested in supporting the program.  The group will also hold a general meeting at its offices at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15th, for anyone interested in supporting the program.
