Interim Chief Medical Officer hired at Winneshiek Medical Center

Winneshiek Medical Center has hired an Interim Chief Medical Officer to replace Dr. Kurt Carlson while the hospital searches for a permanent replacement.

Dr. Susan Halter comes to Decorah from La Crosse, Wisconsin, where she worked for Gundersen Lutheran Health Systems, retired, but then was persuaded by Franciscan Skemp to come out of retirement.  She is a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Madison.

Dr. Halter will serve as Chief Medical Officer after Dr. Carlson leaves later in February.  A reception for Dr. Carlson will be held next Wednesday, February 9th, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.
