Newly-elected county supervisor Lonnie Pierce will officially take office January 4th.
When he does, he will work to make sure existing county services are continued even as budgeting becomes more difficult. Pierce says he would oppose any tax hike--and would also oppose any cuts in services. He says there is only one way to accomplish that task--and that's to make county government more efficient.
Pierce decided to run for the county board because he felt "It was time for a change" in the courthouse. He has been involved in a number of community groups for a number of years, so he has a history of community involvement. He says it is a good time in his life to become involved in politics.
Pierce won a three-way race for county supervisor in November.
