Northeast Iowa Montessori School has announced a $5,000 gift from Decorah Bank & Trust to the school's "Building Their Future" capital campaign. The primary goal of the school's $150,000 two-year capital campaign is to purchase and improve their current home at 418 West Water Street, formerly the Christian Camera building. With the contribution from Decorah Bank & Trust Northeast Iowa Montessori School has now raised nearly 30 percent of the campaign's $150,000 goal.
Children's House serves children from 3 to 6 years old and follows the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and anthropologist who developed a practical and tested scientific method for bringing forth the very best in young human beings.
Future plans for Northeast Iowa Montessori School include expanding their current Children's House program, introducing a toddler program for 2-year-olds, and reintroducing an elementary-age program that will serve students ages 6 to 12. They have already implemented an After-School program, open to children from the wider community, which they hope to expand in the future.
Northeast Iowa Montessori is a registered 501(c)3 not for profit charitable organization and is governed by a 9 member board of directors. Gifts to the campaign are tax deductible.
