City council member wants policy on watering downtown trees

When new trees are planted in downtown Decorah, the tree company keeps watering the trees for a few months.  But after that time the watering stops.

Decorah City Council member Steve Matter says the lack of watering has meant "we've lost some trees."  He wants city officials to work to draw up a policy on whether trees will be watered—and who will do the watering.

Currently the SSMID Committee and Downtown Decorah Betterment Association pay for the cost of the trees.
