Northeast Iowa Community College will be offering "Cabinet Building Basics for Do it Yourselfers" on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m from January 11th through May 11th in the Industrial Technology Building on the Calmar campus.
The class covers the basics of cabinet construction, along with hands-on skills to construct the basic carcasses, face frames, door panels, and installation of hinges and drawer guides. The class also covers installation of finished cabinets, professional tips, fastening procedures such as dovetailing options, pocket screws and much more.
Participants can choose to either work on the class project, or with instructor approval, work on building their own cabinets with their own supplies. This course can be taken for 5 hours of college credit or non-credit.
