Traffic charges issued in two separate traffic accidents

Decorah Police issued citations in two separate traffic accidents on Saturday.

At 10:24 a.m. 17-year-old Joreen Halweg of Decorah struck a car driven by 27-year-old Jamie Barr of Waukon as it was stopped on Short Street, about to turn into a parking lot.  Halweg told police she could not stop in time to avoid hitting Barr's car.  Halweg was given a ticket for failing to stop in an assured distance.

At 11:11 a.m. a car driven by 38-year-old William Kuntz of Decorah struck a parked car on Washington Street owed by Denise Olds of Decorah, causing $1,800 in damages.  Kuntz was given tickets for striking an unattended vehicle, for not having insurance and for driving on a suspended license.
