The Decorah Community School Board voted unanimously Monday night to follow the Superintendent's recommendation to expel two students immediately from the Decorah Schools. The vote came after an hour long meeting of closed session discussion, and was based on the decision that the students were not legal residents of the Decorah Community School District.
The motion approved by the school board read in part that the students, one female and one male, were not legal residents of the Decorah Community School District "and, accordingly, shall be expelled from attendance at the Decorah Community School District and any school activities, effective immediately, unless and until he can establish legal residency in the Decorah Community School District or pay full tuition for the 2010-2011 school year as required by Iowa law and school board policy."
